In late November/early December, 2019, I edited several videos on a very short turnaround time for Giving Tuesday, the nonprofit that organizes and promotes the #GivingTuesday movement. They loved the results, and in May 2020 I was asked to edit more videos for them. They were putting together an event, GivingTuesdayNow, to celebrate the way people had been cooperating and helping each other during the pandemic. My challenge was to edit six videos composed of user-submitted and fair use sourced clips and photos, without repeating, within a period of roughly 27 hours. Each of these short videos aired on the hour during a livestream Giving Tuesday was putting out on Facebook.

Each video was three minutes long. The project’s producer, the incomparable Ari Grunzeweig at Imagination Creations, provided a one-minute opening sequence and opening/closing graphics, which were the same for all six videos. I made six videos from over 100 video and photo assets, only reusing clips a few times across all six videos. A third of the footage I sourced myself, and the rest was given to us by Giving Tuesday. I did 24 hours of work in a 27 hour period to get these videos done in time for the Giving Tuesday Now event on May 5--24 hours between when I started gathering assets and when I completed the sixth video. The clients were very impressed.

This final video I finished in two hours. I’ve cut out the opening sequence as that was edited by Ari.
